What is ECR Passport and ECNR passport? How important to have non ECR passport?
What is ECR?
Emigration is defined as the act of leaving one’s country to live in another.ECR is nothing but Emigration check required. Indian passport holders who have the stamp of ECNR do not require emigration clearance from POE for going to any country. Workers and students going out of India required obtaining an emigration check stamp before leaving country.
Many of us know only passport and we are not aware of ECR or non ECR and how important to have ECNR passport? in case if we are travelling out of country on job permit or work permit its mandatory to have ECNR passport and even if you are going with a reason to study its mandatory and we may not know and stopped in Airports for the reason of not knowing an importance though its only a one reason that could stop us from our dreams or need.
And when and why ECR is printed on Passport?
ECR is printed on passport when you don’t provide your educational proof of matriculation, or graduation.
And documents required as an ECNR passport are very simple though everybody may not holder them, example: 10th or matriculation certificate for all educated people is mandatory to have ECNR passport, some people would have done their schooling and passed their matriculation in distance education during such cases it’s not possible to get ECNR passport, People who passed matriculation in secondary school board in regular only is accepted as an ECR proof, and we see in some cases they studied matriculation and graduation too but would have lost certificates and may only have photocopies and this will not be accepted as proof and the duplicate copies from secondary board has to be obtained after filing an FIR in police reports.
Graduation certificates for professional degree holders also acts as an ECNR Proof like Advocates, Doctors, Engineers, Professors or doctorates, etc.
One final thing is Income tax returns filed by applicant for last three years along with company registration or shop registration certificate would also help to have non ECR proof.
Person who lived abroad for three years (or 1100days) is also eligible to have ECNR passport after providing valid proofs regardless of work they were doing there.
